The concept:
a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd's mosaic maker.
The Questions:
- What is your first name? Heather
- What is your favorite food? Falafel
- What high school did you go to? Glastonbury High
- What is your favorite color? Indigo
- Who is your celebrity crush? Captain Jack Sparrow
- Favorite drink? Cabernet
- Dream vacation? Tierra Del Fuego
- Favorite dessert? Lemon Curd
- What you want to be when you grow up? A Traveler
- What do you love most in life? My family
- One Word to describe you. Connected.
- Your Flickr name. This was hard. Alecto produced an alarming number of field hockey photos and then some really awful stuff and then a bunch of people in renaissance garb (which might have worked if they looked anything at all like me or mine all dressed up and ready for the renfest). I used Ophelia instead and that was hard too with all these images of drowned women and then I found this woman in the window and that turned out to be exactly right.
I got this from Madeline's site and had a heck of a time working out how to get into FD's mosaic maker because the Flickr badge maker is either random or just your photos. In the end I googled FD's Mosaic Maker and was directed to Big Huge Labs which required my Flickr account agreement. This was not difficult. Once you have created permission you need to copy each link into the upload fields. When you are complete you can create the mosaic from those twelve selected links. After that you need to right click on the mosaic and save as a jpg which can be dragged, pasted or uploaded to your blog depending on your operating system and host site of choice.
I cheated for sure because even though most of these photos came from the first page, with some, I really had to look for what I meant which is probably not the point. Take Falafel for instance. I'm very clear about Falafel and I can't get it over here. I can get what I mean in Jerusalem or Nazareth where the lines between Palestine and Israel blur and the food is somewhere in between or something else entirely or maybe the root of it all. This photo happens to be from Jordan which is just across the way.
Glastonbury High School was another trouble spot. Glastonbury is most commonly tagged in England but I went to high school in Connecticut and that photograph is of Cotton Hollow (tagged GHS) where we all got stoned and jumped off the rocks into the water. Except me. I sat there and played in the warm shallows watching the sunlight bounce off small ripples. I suppose if I wasn't cheating I would have had no choice but to select one of the sixteen photographs of some guy groping some girl's butt and that might have been more appropriate for high school now that I think about it. Good God, I do go on.
I am strangely unlikely to have a celebrity crush. They've always seemed so distant and unreal to me that I just never connected. Captain Jack Sparrow, however, omg, I would so do him. Or something (sorry, NoMans, but I know you understand just this one). And I don't mean Johnny Depp either. I mean Jack Sparrow. Slurp. Smack. Yum.

Hee hee! I love this so much. It's just beautiful. Makes me want to go do mine with some thought, as I didn't let myself take any time on it and it is pretty ugly, or just not me. What a wonderful way, as it turns out, to learn more about a person.

Madeline, I loved yours! I kept trying to figure out how you got that photo of you that young and scanned it and then realized what I was really looking at!

I saw this on barn raising and thought, I want to do that! Haven't had time yet though but hopefully I will.
You have to go to Knoxville Alecto -- there's a Falafel Hut! I kid you not! The very first time I ever saw it, I'd just finished reading TRs Skinny Legs and All and for a moment could not figure out if I was in the book or in my life. Just one of those totally unglued moments.
And it was my old friend that Madeline knows who introduced me to TR. Connected indeed. I'm still trying to figure out my celebrity crush. I know I have one, I just can't remember who.

OK I did it, which made two posts in a single day for me!

Alecto (or is it now Heather?)... Looks like you had lost of fun with this. Can anyone play along?

Woot! I just did it, too. What fun! And CG, celebrity crush... duh... TR.

CG - no kidding?! I'm still doing my best to duplicate the meal I had in Nazareth a few years ago. We have a falafel place here in Stamford and it is very close, but not quite there. This may be the Lebanese influence though. Funny, I just finished Skinny Legs and have moved on to Frog Pajamas (this one is new to me) and what killed me about Skinny Legs was that she went on and on about how bad the food was and I thought, that just figures, finally we have an Israeli Palestine mix and nobody can cook!
Cielo, awesome! I'll be right over!
Spartacus, yes, that is my name, I just try not to use it too much in the interest of not being overly googleable. Is that a word yet? About two years ago I googled my full name and came up with a video of of me and my now dead best friend singing the lumberjack song into a live webfeed and while I still think that was riotously funny I guess, given where I work, I might be the only one with that mindset. And yes, please make a mosaic, I'd love to see it.
Annette - be right over!
Oh, NoMans really wants to make one of these too but he doesn't have a blog because being one of those accountant types (dare I use the words rabid auditor forensic data chewer?) he's also functionally illiterate and is limited to cliff notes (The Bottom Line) and trade journals and he is absolutely going to kill me for this. That's ok though because I'm going to post his mosaic for him and I'm sure that will more than make up for it!

Annette, but I don't really want to have sex with TR. I always think of crush as someone I want to have sex with. I'm sure there is somebody!
Go nomans! And I'm sure the falafel at the falafel hut wouldn't do justice to what you've had . . . although the people running the place did seem authentic.

I'm rethinking sex with TR. I like his voice on recorded books, and the movie of Cowgirls.

Teehee @ CG!

Alecto...my flickr meme is up. Thanks for the tip on this. Much fun.

ok, I would like to have a side of TR if only for the lasciviousness with which he writes. I steamed up the train on Friday afternoon in the middle of Frog Pajamas.
