I have a 10' x 20' storage unit full of who I used to be. I did manage to get rid of some of the antique furniture from my grandparents when I moved into the RV. It was in bad shape from being shoved into spare rooms and storage units and outside sheds for the previous 20 years but some yuppies from Scottsdale wanted it anyway.

This summer has been the time to go through photographs and toss them. Pictures from when I was 10 to somewhere around 16 or 18. Mostly all tossed into the trash. Seems that I wasn't quite as good a photographer as the adults in my life always told me I was.

I've been at this for about 15 years, downsizing all the crap I spent the previous 25 or 30 years acquiring. It isn't easy.

No, it is not! I am looking at two rooms full of bedroom furniture from the turn of the last, last century and before and I don't know what the hell to do with it. No one wants a full size bed anymore although Elizabeth assures me she does. She hasn't tried sleeping in one with someone who's feet hang off the end through the rails or worse, in the other bed where the footboard is solid and he has to sleep at an angle which is how Lucia ended up with my bed in the first place. There is a large display cabinet, glass front, double size, three shelves plus the bottom full of china crystal and stuff, just stuff. It's old, it's brittle, passed down the maternal line dating back to the early 18th century, some of it coming from France and Scotland, God knows where else. I have NO IDEA what to do with it. I tried to use the tea cups once. There is a collection of ten, well there were ten, now there are nine, very freaking delicate, beautiful and different tea cups and the little handle just broke right off. Oops. The man was horrified. I thought he was going to faint. I love it all, I would keep it all but fairly soon I will have no place to put it and my daughter just looks at me funny. I believe it has come to the end of the road.

Oh boy, I have things like that too. My Nanny's china, which no one wants. I don't use it. What to do with things like that. Sometimes I feel disloyal or something, wanting to get rid of it. What to do, what to do. Cielo, I understand.

Ship it all to your brother.

Seriously, I feel your pain.
